The good news for Triangle home owners keeps on coming. Last month - the median home prices reached a new all time high.
The national housing market also is looking good - with median home prices now 1% over the previous peak set waaaaay back in July 2005. The national housing numbers for June had the media home price at $231,000 which is up 9% from last year.
Closer to home, the Raleigh housing market is up 4% year-over-year to $240,000. Durham and Chapel Hill's median home sales price was even higher - at $307,000.
What's keeping the numbers so high? Historically low interest rates mean that lenders are almost giving away mortgages. When you factor in that most people are no longer "under-water" when it comes to their current homes it all means a flood of buyers are searching for a limited number of homes.
